2015 14er Speed Record Attempt
Well, here we go again...I am heading out tomorrow to take another shot at the Colorado 14er record. I've almost cancelled the attempt several times this year. First I had a bunch of nagging injuries that messed with training. Then all the late season snow freaked me out. Now the early onset of Monsoons has me picturing the not-so-good old days of downpours and lightning bolts on the Wilson El Diente traverse.
Rather than just cancelling though I have decided to ignore all the good advice from family and friends to just wait a year, and just go ahead and get started and see how it all pans out. If the weather gets too gnarly though and causes some big delays I may just have to call it early, but I will give it my best shot!
In any case, I delayed my start as much as I could based on crew schedule, and am going to start on June 29th around 4:30am.
Just like last year, if you are interested in following along you can see my satellite tracker updates at: https://share.delorme.com/14ers
We also have a back up tracker so if something happens to the other one you can follow it at: https://share.delorme.com/NatalieHamilton
As usual I failed to polish up my website, but at the very least I did update the numbers to say "2015 record attempt" instead of "2014 record attempt"
The website is still at http://www.andrewhamilton.com/14ers, Andrea and Natalie will try to keep it updated as much as possible!
I look forward to seeing you out there!

Good luck on an injury free successful record!

Woo hoo! Good luck Andrew and be safe. It looks like I'll get to CO to start recon around July 8th. That's a bit late to be of any help though (but if your crew thinks I can help when the time comes then by all means contact me). Can't wait to watch the progress of the satellite beacon...rock it.

Hi Brett, I hear you know of a good place to get a chicken sandwich? Anyway I'd love to see you out there!
Ron, I would love to see you out there again too, thanks for all the snow updates in the San Juans this year!

heheh...i also know of a nice tranquil place to get an IV...if all goes well I suppose you'd be doing the front range (or maybe finishing up tenmile/mosquito) when i get there. i'll definitely try and meet up with you if it is possible. that would be cool.
