14ers Rock Band
Let's form a rock band!
Looks like there's a bunch of people who play instruments and sing, so let's do some songs together. Especially if you're faced with some unexpected time at home, what better use of it than making some music?
And if you're not musically inclined, maybe you have some good ideas for a band name?
North Maroon Punk Rock Band?
Banned Members Band?
What about some good songs to either cover or modify?
Biffy Clyro - Mountains
Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song
Blues Traveler - Mountains Win Again
And yes, there's that classic anthem from Miley Cyrus, The Climb!
I suppose the eventual song and style will depend on who we get. Black metal blast beats with some bluegrass banjo and maracas? Sure!
Requirements:
-Able to record on something better than a cell phone. There's some nice USB mics for cheap!
-Able to collaborate via Dropbox
-Able to record to a click track or other backing, and export that audio to mp3
Desirements:
-Familiarity with a DAW of some sort. I use Reaper, but if you know at least a little about recording that would help
-Familiarity with digitally recording whatever instrument you play. For drums and keyboards that could be MIDI and VSTs, guitars and basses that would be DI and reamping, for vocals and maracas that would be, well, shoot, I don't know. I've never recorded maracas.
-- If you don't do those techniques but can do plain old recording, ie "plugging in a mic and playing", that's fine, as long as you play in tune and on time!

I can't play music, but just wanted to suggest that the logo for the 14ers rock band should be something like this:

There are a few of us who do this (mostly metal though) -- sometimes not *explicitly* 14er related but definitely the Colorado Rockies:

As a big black metal fan, (latest obsession is Hate Forest, new album "Hour of the Centaur"), I can relate to your music.thurs wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 10:00 pmThere are a few of us who do this (mostly metal though) -- sometimes not *explicitly* 14er related but definitely the Colorado Rockies:

You have a good black metal voice, and the overall sound is produced/balanced right.
"Iceaxe" is a pretty "cool" band name too! Good work.
I gotta get me an Avatar.

The Kinky Motley Crew? The Whitest Boy Alive would be a good fit as well
