Mt. Moran CMC route

Post by malawi » Fri May 07, 2021 2:34 pm

Looking for a partner to do the CMC route on Mt. Moran in the Tetons (early to mid July). I used to lead 5.9 alpine climbs, but injuries and a C5-7 fusion caused me some issues. Don't have a rope or gear anymore, but I still have my climbing shoes and harness. Definitely want to get to know my partner before committing to the CMC route. I live near Hartsel. Maybe we could climb at Turkey Rock, 11 mile, or Bob's rock in BV

Sounds like you should check a guide company.

The CMC route on Mount Moran felt very similar to one of the East Face routes on the Flatirons to me. The crux for us was finding the down-climb off Drizzlepus to the rappel station. Another party was about to turn around when we figured it out. It was a really spectacularly beautiful place and I would highly recommend it. We did not take bear spray and then ran into a mama grizzly and her two cubs while we were portaging our canoe on the way back. So, probably a good idea to take bear spray. Good luck with your search for a partner. I hope this little promo helps.

Thanks to Wildernessjane. As to Buckie06, why have a climber connection if people are going to just post advice of spending thousands of dollars on a guide?

I'd be interested, but we should do some practice climbs first.
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.
