Yeah, I've boated along with Tao in Gore Canyon and Eric Jackson on the Arkansas with some disabled vets years ago. (Great guys).

Corran Addison is the founder of Riot Kayaks. Led the industry in whitewater boat designs that all manufacturers now seem to have copied in their rodeo/freestyle boats. (short tips, vertical sides, sharp chines, blunt ends, high knees) He has since moved on to designing ocean surfing kayaks and now back to river boats and SUP. I decided to look him up again just now and learned something new on Wiki:
Corran was one of the first people in the United States to be certified by the National Ski Patrol on a Snowboard. He was a sponsored snowboarder for many years, racing in the Mid Atlantic series for several years.
Cool stuff, related to mountains.

I thought there was a bigger mega thread for documentaries but couldn't find one and didn't wanna start a separate thread for this one. But I really liked the perspective behind this TGR documentary which came out recently.

It has already been mentioned, but "The Beckoning Silence" with Joe Simpson is very good and is streaming on Amazon Prime. Also on Prime right now is "Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey", excellent as well.

Though mentioned already, I must reiterate that Meru, Dawn Wall, Free Solo, and Valley Uprising are simply incredible feats of athleticism, film making and story telling and should be viewed by all, not just those into mountaineering.

My contributions are mostly Ski Movies but I highly recommend the following:

Claim - The best Ski Movie ever made, IMO
Higher - Jeremy Jones, enough said
McConkey - Shane was a true legend
Swift, Silent and Deep - Story of the JH Air Force
The Continuum - Old School TGR, jump turns and straight skis.. love it!
Everest (1998) - The documentary (not the 2015 movie with Jake Gyllenhaal)
Few Words - No one skis like Candide Thovex
Messner (2012) - German documentary about the mountaineering icon
Collect memories, not things.

I still have straight skis. I had to get them st a used ski store as any place selling new skis only has well, new, shaped skis.
And they look at you like you need some sort of help when you inquire about any straight skis.
