Multiple 14ers

Post by Gschuberth »

I want to spend a week in CO this summer and do three 14ers. Is there a good spot to get an AirBnB where we can get to multiple 14ers trailheads within 1 to 1.5 hours? My group has done ten 14ers, so decent shape. Not looking for crazy hard, have already done Longs, quandary, Democrat Lincoln Cameron Bross grays torreys Bierstadt Evans. Just want to climb. Any suggestions?

I don't think Winfield has AirBnBs :-"

(That is a good area for multiple peaks though and there are plenty of lodging options in Buena Vista or Leadville)

Sometimes I comment without reading the full post ](*,) I blame the ADHD :-"
The Forest Service does have a few cabins that you can rent to stay at just short of Winfield though!

The perfect suggestion imho, as long as you (i) are happy to include one class 3 climb (Wetterhorn), and (ii) have a 4wd vehicle (at least for Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn). Otherwise check out Buena Vista (or Leadville) for your pick of easy Sawatch 14ers (and Sherman from the West).

+1 on this. LaPlata, Huron, Belford, Oxford and Missouri are all in this immediate area.
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.

Leadville, because it has High Mountain Pies. There are some 14ers in the area as well, or so I've heard.

Northwest of Salida in Sawatch range: Shavano, Tabeguache, Antero.

South of Salida on east and west side of Sangres: Challenger, KC on west side; and Humboldt, Crestone Needle, Crestone Peak on east side.
