Pop-out topic windows

When I hover over a topic and the pop-out window thing displays last post, I'm seeing weird characters. Anyone else?

looks like quotations are what cause the issue, nbd

Probably double or single quotes or slashes causing the issues, since those characters are frequently used to delimit fields in the computing world. For example, the first picture says 22(gibberish) and it's supposed to be 22". You'll also notice this if you use double quotes in the "Route" field on a conditions report too - it will post properly but then if you edit it the "quoted text" is replaced by slashes. For these mouseover bubbles it's just a display issue.

My bet is on either double decoding of a unicode character (those smart quotes) before printing it out, or not decoding it at all.

Hmm, the front page sets the encoding to windows-1252, but the actual data is UTF-8. That could be it. The forum sets the encoding in the HTML and is served both as UTF-8.

You're right, it's the character encoding.

For a long time I've needed to change encoding on some database tables so I started that process after the recent server migration but haven't finished changing the pages to match.

Also, a lack of "encoding" in some instances.

On my droid, this happens. I clicked the like and then started to type a comment and Whiley was hovering over the entire time! Wtf, back off.
