Whats the deal for where to park in Silverton?
I look up to the mountains - does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! Psalm 121:1-2

You can park for free on any of the streets in town. At the train station they *recommended* that you don't leave your vehicle for multiple days on main street, although it is legal to do so. They just would prefer to keep main street clear for other visitors, not just people on backpack trips. We found plenty of spots on one of the side streets just north of the train depot, (13th street maybe?) You won't have a problem finding parking.
Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.

I and lots of other hikers have parked right next to the (yellow?) building where you get your train tickets in Silverton without problems. It's a few short blocks from where you actually get on the train.

As I recall, that is what the ticket agent recommended to us when we did that trip.

That is correct. Unlike Durango, the DSNGRR doesn't charge for parking in Silverton.

East 3rd Avenue worked very well for 4 days of free parking 4 short blocks from the Durango train station this past weekend.
