You should be good, but you never know, particular in some areas.

Re: Safe to leave gear at base / camp?
It was the first one I did and wasn't bad, just long. Pack plenty of water (3+ L) as you don't cross a source going CW once you leave the TH until coming down off MotHC at ECC (TR for route beta).mtnkub wrote:The Halo route of Holy Cross is awesome... but less so for backpacking. And probably not an ideal route for a first time 14er outing (especially if done via HM pass)... to say the least!
Ironic given first comment.mtnkub wrote:it makes a great one-day outing on Holy Cross, and breaking it down into two days always scared me https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/triprepo ... trip=12933

Re: Safe to leave gear at base / camp?
Why do we have to continually rehash these tired old arguments TG? Mtnkub is correct that we should NOT recommend the Halo Ridge route of Holy Cross to someone attempting their first 14'er. The reasons are obvious.
And the OP of this thread stated their interest in backpacking in for a peak. The Halo Ridge route is NOT feasible for this. As usual, this was a decent thread until your bad advice.
(You only made twelve posts yesterday, 5/24. That's really low for you, hope you're not off your game.)

Hey Bill, is there, or can we add, an ignore function so we can all hide TallGrass's comments?
also, @TG: dude. Get a f*cking life and quit arguing with people on the internet about petty and nitpicky bs.

Lying is bad. That's why it's bad that you falsely claimed to have ascended two snow routes on the north face of Missouri.
This thread is a perfect example of how you're ruining this forum. I'm sure plenty of people think I've developed an unhealthy obsession with arguing with you, but it's all in an attempt to curb your absurd posturing.

Now you're lying just like illusion7il. A look at your post history would confirm your obsession.Brad2 wrote:Lying is bad. That's why it's bad that you falsely claimed to have ascended two snow routes on the north face of Missouri.

Re: Safe to leave gear at base / camp?
Well I can honestly say I'm getting tired of TallGrassing you.
Hey all you forum members, just wanted to say goodbye. This will be my last post because I was voted off the island as an obnoxious and contentious jerk. Actually both TallGrass and I were both voted off but he is going to stay and continue to dominate this forum. It is, of course, his central means of social interaction, being so isolated all alone out there on the Kansas prairie. (Even traveling to Kansas City is 1.5 hours away for him.)
He considers himself the most important contributor to the forum, despite being relatively new to the climbing/mountaineering world. It’s a type of ego complex that he has developed, with the foundation being his continuous research in to all types of information about the world around him.
Unfortunately, research can not substitute for mountain experience. His mountain advice to people is often inaccurate and sometimes downright dangerous. He has redefined the term ‘overposting.’ He wants to develop a reputation as a climbing guru. The problem is that he often pretends to be more experienced than he really is. He has always avoided questions of whether he has attended any official training courses at all, in mountaineering knowledge, climbing, avalanches, or Wilderness First Aid. He has avoided questions of whether he has any college education, and whether he has any military experience. He has even avoided offering his first name, despite hosting numerous Kansas City Happy Hours. Kind of a shady character in many ways.
Using an alternate account called Zoe Saldana, he tried to build up a reputable persona as an experienced mountaineer, even claiming to have ascended two snow routes on the north face of Missouri Mountain, when in fact he has never even been on Missouri Mountain in any season.
Anybody that wants a copy of his current 14’er list is free to contact me by PrivateMessage. It’s really pretty easy to keep it updated because any time he comes to Colorado he unfailingly posts trailhead updates, peak updates, trip reports, and innumerable posts about said peaks. And while this information can certainly be useful, his aggressive self-promotion can be also be quite nauseating.
Mark my words, I warn you now: if nobody else is willing continue the crusade to keep him in check he will, I assure you, continue to tyrannize this forum and his presence will come to dominate it to an ever greater degree. He has already entrenched himself so deeply here that it may be a lost cause.
Good luck, I wish all of you the best in life and in your mountain endeavors!

This made my day. While we're on it, I do have a new theory...Tallgrass = Jmanner. There are only 2 people who write pathetic PM's.Brad2 wrote:Well I can honestly say I'm getting tired of TallGrassing you.
