Snowmass area Trailheads

Post by tomcat32 »

I see on my map the main TH for Snowmass that goes down the Snowmass Maroon Trail. Is there another parking area for the East Maroon Trail, 1/2 or so before the main TH ?
Is the main TH decent for overnight parking. I'm looking to do a loop. I could park at either (if there is one at the end of East MaroonTr.)

I can only speak for the Snowmass Creek Rd parking area/trailhead. It is suitable for overnight parking and you can also sleep in your vehicle. Getting a space can be competitive. If I remember correctly, there are also 2 or 3 additional spaces along the road to the trailhead parking area. EDIT: I don't remember a separate parking area for the East Maroon Creek Trail, I believe the main parking area serves both trails. The few additional spaces may have been where the East trail meets the road.

Are you referring to the East Snowmass Creek trail which is a 0.1 mi down the road from the standard Snowmass TH? If so, I camped and hiked from there last week. There’s parking for maybe 10 cars max. I’ll have a TR in a couple days.

I'm assuming East Snowmass Creek Trail. The Latitude 40 map just says East Snowmass Trail and it appears pretty close on the map. A couple tenths of a mile at the most.
