Joe Grant does Nolans
Joe Grant started his run on Nolans 14 this morning in Leadville. Looks like he's already done with Mt. Massive, just over 3 hours in.

Awesome. Something to entertain me the last 2 days of summer school.

Ooohhhh yeah! Looks like he picked a great time to take this on as the weather looks great for the next 2-3 days.

He is ripping. As of La Plata (peak 3), he was four hours ahead of Andrew Hamilton's N-S FKT. Hard to compare against Iker's overall FKT right now since he's going the other way, but this is going to be a good show.

Looks like he's taking a break at Winfield. He's only ~90 minutes behind the pace that Anton Krupicka was on when he did the first 6 summits in 13.5 hours in 2013. Anton's attempt (he bailed after Belford) is the fastest time through the first 6 peaks that I know of, so Joe is moving pretty well right now.

Impressive, most impressive. I always love following these epics. Who knew that spying someone's GPS tracker could be so exhilarating.

Re: Joe Grant does Nolans
Joe is moving exceedingly well, especially considering the pack he's carrying. Early days, early days, let's hope he can keep it up!
JFM3 - Just as an historical anecdote, in July 2012 I made it to Missouri in 10h33 and Elkhead Pass in 10h55 (~20-25min short of Belford, peak #6) before bailing down due to lightning.
Unfortunately, I never had any intent of attempting the full enchainment that day, so didn't wait out the storm and just descended down Missouri Gulch instead. I really wish I had continued that day, though, as I was feeling great, unlike the absolute death march that was everything but the first peak for me in my 2013 attempt. Altitude can play strange tricks.

I wonder if he’s running hardrock100 this year?

I love how on the edge of my seat I can be watching an orange dot update every 10 min. Looks like he is going to be hitting the traverse to Columbia at sunrise, topping out on Harvard roughly 24 hours in.
Any idea of where he is in comparison to AH N>S time wise? I think Andrew was at Avalanche TH ~36 hours.
Or is this not comparable since unsupported?
unsupported fkt is AH in the other direction 51:24 (2015)
N>S fkt is AH but supported during holy Nolan’s 53:42 (2017)
Is there a “North to South unsupported” time to beat? He’s still cruising, good luck Joe!

Andrew's splits as well as many others are on http://mattmahoney.net/nolans14/adamjm wrote:I love how on the edge of my seat I can be watching an orange dot update every 10 min. Looks like he is going to be hitting the traverse to Columbia at sunrise, topping out on Harvard roughly 24 hours in.

All the FKT information is more concisely given at http://fastestknowntime.com/route/nolans-14-co
I don't think anyone has (publicly) gone unsupported N-S, so Joe would get that FKT plus the overall N-S FKT if he best's Andrew's time, assuming he actually completes the route. At this pace he is also vying for Iker's overall FKT for either direction.
Andrew was 31 hours to the top of Columbia. Joe got there in under 26.

Re: Joe Grant does Nolans
Joe is over the top of Princeton. It looks like he's taking a break at the top of the Grouse Canyon descent. He's at ~39 hours right now, so for the N-S FKT he still has 12 hours to do the last 3 peaks. The FKT for either direction is Iker at 47 hours 40 minutes, but he went S-N. Given how fast Alex Nichols is current running S-N, maybe that is indeed the faster direction.
