Arson By an ILLEGAL ALIEN. Sure pains them that they had to report that. In the 4th paragraph.

And all air supported fire fighting had to be stopped because some Jack Hole was flying his private drone in the area.

Oh, leave your goddamn incendiary (ha!) politics out of it. The article only stated he was not a US citizen. Could be a tourist, illegal alien, green card holder, etc.
To everyone else: Let's withhold the speculation until actual facts and information are released. K? K. Don't be like the guy I quoted.

EDIT: And as stated below, I'm sure this is when the thread goes off the deep end.

I believe the gentleman in question was from Denmark, not usually a group associated with incendiary political rhetoric, violence, or vitriolic demagoguery (well, except for some unpleasantness in Elsinore castle a few centuries ago...)

I also read the fire was started accidentally.

Other than my opinion that it pains the paper to include the info in the 4th paragraph, the rest of my comment is nothing but fact. He was handed over to ICE. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Ah, there it is! Thanks for the source.

Yeah, but they handle enforcement of tourist visas and other such things in many cases. Mommyhiker had an actual source though, so you are indeed correct.

Sort of, he was reportedly burning trash during a Stage 2 fire ban, so...he may not have intentionally started the forest on fire because he's a pyro but it was no accident for sure.

His Facebook page is whack, so so strange.

Back to the fire, cloud cover last night prevented an accurate assessment of new territory burned so the current acreage burned has not been updated for almost a day. The wind has been a bit more mellow today but the Sangres are still hazy, obviously worse the further south like the Sierra Blanca range.

Not here to fuel political fires; but I will comment that we climbed the Crestones today and didn’t notice much smoke after sunrise.

But holy smokes was the fire scary looking on my drive north from Taos.
