Mt. Sherman Accessibility

Post by grahampa »

Is Mt. Sherman's trailhead accessible even though 285 is closed south of Fairplay? I read on Saturday there was good visibility despite the fires.
"Because it's there."

If it is closed you should be able to get to it from the Leadville side. I imagine though you can still access it from Fairplay.

you cannot access 4 mile. There are cops sitting there funneling everyone to CO-9. You can try and beg the officers, but I doubt there will be any sympathy (never hurts to try, but it isn't my style). I would imagine Iowa gulch should be no problem. I'd have a back up plan - and the area has many.
