Princeton Clearance
I've been reading through the forum posts and TH updates to try to gauge if I'd be able to make the drive to the radio towers up Princeton. I have a 2015 Nissan Murano, and google tells me the clearance is 6.9". It seems like most of the other cars mentioned are around 8". I am planning to hike this Saturday, so I'm also worried about passing other cars since it will likely be more crowded on a Saturday. We are planning for a very early arrival (while it is still dark), so this also gives me concern since I won't be able to see as well. If anyone has any thoughts on if the 6.9" clearance is sufficient, that would be great, thanks!

Re: Princeton Clearance
We took my wife’s 2011 Nissan Rogue to the towers last year. My memory: it wasn’t an issue. My wife’s memory: we barely cleared a few spots and one time I had to get out and push from the back while I made her steer. But both our memory: we made it up there, and she didn’t talk to me for a solid 20 min and a round of beverages
But! We made it just fine without any damage to her car and our marriage

Re: Princeton Clearance
Off topic but I drove up there a few years ago after a late start out of Denver. Got up near the towers about 11PM and there were 2 dumbasses sleeping in the middle of the gravel road right up by the towers. They were just in sleeping bags, no tent, literally in the middle of the road. I'm glad I was paying attention - even so I stopped only about 10ft before running over them. That's almost worthy of a Darwin award. Be careful driving in the dark!

I followed a girl in a subaru up to the towers 1 yr ago. She was all over the road avoiding rocks but she made it alright.

Re: Princeton Clearance
Just to compare this to other roads, I personally found 4WD roads such as Antero and Winfield to be more difficult. Princeton will definitely require you to take your time in spots since the road is damaged and requires you to align your wheels correctly as there are large dips often in the middle of the road. Clearance definitely makes this aspect less cumbersome. However, there are only a few spots with large rocks that require navigation. Otherwise it's mostly the road being uneven and narrow. If you're confident and take your time, then I think your Murano will make it up. To compare I have a Forester (8.7 inches), which has zero issues. I've always parked above the towers next to some of the camp sites.

Re: Princeton Clearance
Somewhere, buried deep in the thread archives of this site, there are several posts about a large group of people making it up to the radio towers in an Astro van, with photographic proof. I think there were some bumps and scrapes along the way, but still.

Re: Princeton Clearance
Made it well past the towers with a stock Jeep Liberty (7.9 clearance). Scraped once but I think that was more to driving rather than vehicle...
