No shuttles to either, as far as I know. If you’re not planning on renting a car, may be able to hitch a ride from town or coordinate a ride with other hikers from this site

Thanks! I didn't think so, but it was worth a shot. I'll have a rental, but my family will be using it...so, I'm trying to get those trailheads. I may see if anyone is heading that way when it gets closer.....Thanks again!

If you are thinking they need the car to scoot around Lake City they can walk to about anywhere in 10 to 15 minutes.

Don't miss the Slumgullion Pass Overlook. It is highly impressive.
Can they drop you off? It's a bit of a challenge. I think it took me 45 minutes to get to the trailhead in the dark.Talking about Redcloud. It's a can't miss hike.

Strap on your pack and hitchhike. With 3 14ers up the road there will be around 27,000 cars heading up on a weekend maybe 10,000 through the week. You'll get a ride.

+1. My family walked around Lake City whilst I climbed Sunshine & Redcloud a few years ago. They had a good time in town.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been in the area quite a bit.....I'm looking to hike San Luis Peak, if I can get a place nearby (decided against Lake City). My parents could possibly get us to the trailhead. They are elderly, but "go-getters"...I just don't want to put them in a bad situation. They are planning on going to Lake City and wherever else..so....Is the West Willow TH road too much for them? Is it possible to hitch a ride up to that trailhead?

Thank again!!! I really appreciate it!!

You can stay in Creede, we spent 3 nights last week at the Snowshoe Lodge (motel). Creede would be a great town for your family to spend some time while your hiking. It has shops, restaurants, and a fascinating mining history. Fun bars also :-D Lodging might me hard to get on the weekend.

The road out of Creede is 2 wheel drive until about a mile and a half prior to the TH. It's a well maintained gravel road, easily doable for an average driver and vehicle, although the 1st mile is steep and washboard-y as it climbs through mining ruins.

I wouldn't count on hitching a ride to or from the trailhead. Traffic was light, just a few other vehicles, although we were there midweek.

Overall, we loved the hike and Creede. Watch for moose on the trail, and bears in town at night.
