From the other side, the Alpine Loop was plowed about 2.5 miles up from Eureka (or 10.5 miles from Silverton). Cool snow canyon 20-25 feet deep a mile up. Walked from Eureka to Burns/Grouse TH, that TH is under probably 40' or snow. I posted a trailhead status for it with pictures if people are curious about Alpine Loop snow on the west.

Stay safe Ron, and Lake City!

I did a bit of research, but I was wondering if anyone down there could confirm where the CR 30 closure starts? Not looking to head down for about two weeks, and I realize things could change either for better or worse by then, but I was hoping to be able to access the Mill Creek TH for Sunshine...

+1. I am watching closely here. We aren't coming out until August 1, hoping to climb Sunshine & Redcloud + Wetterhorn & Uncompahgre. Hoping for the best outcome.

The winter closure of CR30 is around 5 miles from the SC/GG TH at the Sherman Fork. The road is closed to all foot and vehicle traffic at the winter closure. A viable alternative is to climb S/R from Mill Creek (across the street from the Mill Creek Campground). The Mill Creek Campground is around 2 miles before the winter closure on CR30.

That's too bad. I am sure that race brings some $$$ into the Lake City area.

Best of luck to everyone in the Lake City area. I just watched some videos on the Hindsdale County Emergency Management facebook page. Seems like you guys are up against a major uphill battle with clearing the drainages.

I had planned to be in American Basin and Nellie Creek area over 4th of July. Is it fair to assume that CR 20 and CR 30 won't be open at that time?

Nobody knows! Depends on flooding, debris clearance, etc.

Great news for my fellow hikers who love Lake City.

I just read an update from the COEmergency Facebook page (Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management) that says the debris removal projects along CR20 and CR30 will be done by June 26th. Granted this doesn't mean the roads will be open on the 26th, but it shouldn't take too long after that!

I see your status update. But unfortunately I don't see your images. I see some older images showing the area bone dry. I'm on an Android phone.
