Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely check out Treeline Kitchen and High Mountain Pies.

Harrison - I will be there from 8/19-8/23. I would be happy to hike with someone but as I am coming from Milwaukee and will be slow and mostly out of breath, I don't want to slow anyone down. But I will be on my own this year as my hiking partner who came out with me the last two times changed jobs and she doesn't have enough vacation time to make it happen this year. But if anyone is in town & wants to grab a beer or whatever, I'm always game.

I always stop at Tennessee Pass Cafe on my way home from hiking 14ers in that area. Treeline has weird hours and is never open when I'm passing through. Despite the mediocre yelp reviews I've never been let down by a TN pass burger, FWIW.

Mountain Pies has really good pizza

Treeline is fairly upscale, entrees start at around $20 I think

You shouldn't have any problem on those routes with exposure. Snow shouldn't be a problem by then either. Be safe and have fun.

If you aren't a vegan, Quincy's is THE place to have dinner in Leadville (or B.V. or Salida for that matter). I dream about post-14er filet mignon or prime rib.

Also, do yourself a favor and buy yourself a Melanzana hoodie while you're in Pbville. My friends kept telling me how great they were, and I finally bought one when I was in Pbville in March. Should have bought one years ago--it's my favorite piece of hiking clothing now.

On average, that's a great time to come out here. By that time there is definitely a chance that an early snowstorm or two could have hit (or be hitting), but usually the weather is nice and maybe a bit chilly up high.

I'm staying right down the street from Quincy's. I will definitely check that out.

Alright thanks again for all the suggestions. I believe I am all set for my trip. Had a minor setback when my Dr. discovered a 7mm stone in my right kidney, but they blasted it out with a lithotripsy and I am back at full speed. Looking forward to coming out there again.

City on the Hill, the coffee shop, has baked goods, quiche, and sandwiches. It's not the same as a sit-down breakfast, and it's also SUPER popular, but I'd argue that even with those limitations, it's the best restaurant in Leadville.
