We went over Kenosha Pass on Monday. The colors were just starting to change. Note that Hwy 285 is closed between Fairplay and Antero Junction for paving. There is a pretty long detour.

Good reminder esp. that cotrip doesn't have the closure on their map but the live cameras have the blockage.

Going 24 to 9 is only ~10min detour though

Update, Just got back from the Maroon Bells and Mother Nature is starting to do her magic. But there is still a lot of green.

Fall River Rd up toward St Mary's is looking about like that Bells pic above. But it's changing quick. A lot of yellow has shown up in just the last couple of days, with still a lot of green. Another week or so should be spectacular!

I drove over Willow Creek Pass and Cameron Pass via the Owl Mountain cutoff yesterday - some spots of nice color but still a few days early.

Drove all around Rocky Mountain National Park (Endovally, Morraine Park, Bear Lake, etc) - only little splotches of color here and there. A few patches had leaves that were half yellow, half brown so probably won't get any real color in those spots, but overall still a whole lot of green aspen around and air is getting crisp so hopefully some color on the way soon.

I was there in 2017, I checked the date on my pictures, it was 9/29 and leaves were mostly turned, if that's useful. Some pictures from closer to Telluride on the same day still have a mix of green and yellow. That should give you an idea at least, things seems to be lagging by a few days this year, next weekend at the earliest would be my guess.

Sunday 9/22
Dillon area 30% turned
Fremont Pass 50%
Hoosier Pass - Alma 30%
Still many wildflowers in Breckenridge indicating no hard freeze yet.

All those places look about two weeks later than typical.

Thanks PW. It does seem like it's running a bit later this year, but that gives me an idea of when to plan the fall road trip.

Two weeks late? I don't think so. Several days? Yes.
I was over Guanella Pass this weekend and Aspens had some stands with color with others in process. Willows are about done. I'd say this week/weekend will be peaking up there.
- I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was blaming you.
