Catalytic Converter stolen in Eagle County

It will also sound like an old prop plane taking off and release more pollutants but it's possible. (I had to drive a mini bus after someone stole its catalytic converter from a school in Edwards).

Lol, just use torx bits. I bet most thieves don’t know the difference between #1 and #3 Phillips head. T40 torqued > 100lbs requires the right tools imo

so let me get this right. you are advising to have a custom skid plate manufactured, drill and tap your frame, install torx bits and torque them to 100 ft lbs?? seems overkill for a problem that 99% of us will never encounter...

Nah, not advising it. All of this is pretty irrelevant for most people. Just something I found helpful after having this happen twice (once in my work parking lot, midday), especially if you were considering skid plates anyway...

I'm not advocating that you drive it long term, just that you can drive it from a trailhead back home and get it fixed. Sorry if that was confusing.

Reminds me of a story from an old co-worker where one day after getting ready for work in the morning he discovered that his drive shaft had been stolen from his vehicle right in his driveway. The whole driveshaft...
May have been in Aurora a decade or two ago but I'm probably misremembering the location he said it happened at.
