What tracks are these?

Post by daway8 »

Anyone know what type of critter leaves tracks like the ones in this photo next to my footprints? This was up above 13,000ft between Geneva and Landslide.

Do you have a closer up shot showing the print larger?

At first glance I'd say bobcat, but can't tell if claws are in the prints or not, also they're aren't too often seen that high and in the open unless a lot of food (rodents) is present.
Given its location, maybe Pine Marten.. prints too large to be a smaller weasel. if toenails are in the track, maybe canine (dog, coyote, fox), need a closer up view of print.
Marmots are likely hibernating. Yeti would be significantly larger.

Zero also identifies as a chupacabra. Did you see any animal that looked like this?

On a related note - not to hijack (but just meander from) the original post - I could use assistance to identify these 3-clawed tracks (size of my hand) from Lenawee Saturday -
