Dang Jon, that's funny. It took me a few sentences but I started chuckling all the way through.
"Quicker than I can tell it, my hands failed to hold, my feet slipped, and down I went with almost an arrow’s rapidity. An eternity of thought, of life, of death, wife, and home concentrated on my mind in those two seconds. Fortunately for me, I threw my right arm around a projecting boulder which stood above the icy plain some two or three feet." Rev. Elijah Lamb

A town in New Mexico that had the bright idea to change their name to a popular 1950 radio segment so that they would broadcast an episode from their town, all in the hopes of becoming a big tourist destination.

Well over 60 years later no one knows about the Truth or Consequence game show and to pour salt in the wound. Everyone forgot about the awsome hot springs in the area that the town was originally named after.
I grew up in T. or C. and it was a great place in the 1980's with the lake near by. It would become the second largest city in the state on 4th of July and Memorial Day Weekend back then.
It has since been hit by meth badly and most nice things about the area is gone as the lake is always very low now.

I'm surprised the town didn't take off after the Kiefer Sutherland movie called T or C NM.
