First mountains in Colorado?

Mount Cutler, 7200', two miles round-trip, with wife and two small kids soon after we moved here in summer of 1990. I think it took us about two hours to summit. We stopped for lunch under a tree thinking we still had a long way to go, then discovered we were about 100 easy yards from the summit. First 13er was West Spanish Peak in July 1994, first 14er Pikes Peak via Barr Trail with an overnight at Barr Camp, September 1994.

Handies Peak in 1979. Saw exactly 1 other person all the way from the trailhead to the summit and back. Things were a bit less crowded back then.

I wasn't even alive then. I don't remember which summit I did first, maybe it was Sherman. I'd have to ask CochetopaClif.

Huron Peak in 2002... no idea why I thought it sounded like a good idea at the time, just was bored. Getting off the couch that day changed my life.

FWIW I had the same experience on Handies in 2009, 30 years later to boot. That’s a beautiful area

My first was Yale, and I was clueless. I got caught on top by one of the notorious afternoon storms, which I knew nothing about at that time. Lightning, very high wind, and graupel stinging me. All I could do was huddle down next to a large rock, thinking I was going to die.

In 1978 my wife and I climbed 12er Bandit Peak during a 3 day backpack of the Mt Evans Wilderness. We had just moved to Colorado and had a great time. In three days, we didn’t see another person.
