Glacier covered peak NW of Boulder

Post by XterraRob »

Driving into work this morning, there was a prominent peak NW of Boulder that looked as if it was covered in a glacier. Very smooth and white. Anyone know what peak that may be?

Definitely not Long's.

The Arapaho Glacier is on the east face of the South/North Arapaho Peak massif. It is a real glacier. Mt. Audubon could be what you saw. It has a rounded summit. Its east slopes are very broad and low-angle, and after recent snow (before the wind blows it all away) it can be very white and smooth.

Yes, was being facetious lol. It looked pretty wild this morning.

Fairview was burned heavily by the Calwood Fire 2 years ago. There was already some burned terrain on the south & east sides, but the latest burn scar wraps around to the north as well. I remember standing on my porch and watching the flames rip over the top.

Turns out, it was just a heavy case of frost yesterday morning. Not really any snow on it today.
