Lost ice ax on Castle Peak

Post by shleysalive »

Hey everyone, I did castle peak yesterday 5/26 and was too tired on the way down, didn’t secure my ice axe correctly, and it fell off in montezuma basin. I was riding a higher line in there on the castle side of the valley. If anyone finds it i would love it back, first time using it, black diamond with the leash, didn’t have my name on it. Thanks!!! Happy exploring :)

I will keep an eye if I go this weekend. How were the conditions across Castle and Conundrum? Did you glissade back down?

I'm going to climb Castle and Conundrum on Sunday, so I can also pick it up if I find it.

Amazing thanks! Conditions were great for spring. My friends and I were touring so I splitboarded out. It was HOT and melting quickly on the road.

I climbed both mountains yesterday, the 28th. On the way out, a group of 4 people stopped me and asked if I was missing an ice axe, because another person in their group (who was out skiing somewhere in the basin) found one. I said no, I wasn't missing anything, but someone had posted about a missing axe. One of the people I talked to said "what's 14ers.com?" when I mentioned the post.... So, someone apparently found it, but contacting them could be tricky.

Dang it!! Well, so grateful for this little bit of beta. I’ll hold our hope they post somewhere about it!
