Re: repeal Colorado wolf reintroduction in 2026
Why start threads about a divisive issue like this that's barely related to mountaineering? All it will do is foster division.

Re: repeal Colorado wolf reintroduction in 2026
I think it’s a legit topic given the large amount of time mountaineers spend in the wilderness.
Coming down off Pennsylvania Mtn in October I was thinking of a recent article I had read about how some wolves had been tracked crossing I-70 and were rambling around Summit County. Then right where the trail leaves the highest pines emerged two wolves trotting up the middle of the track about 200’ ahead and closing fast. I did what any chicken would do and scrambled to the top of an 8’ high boulder next to the trail and prepared to fight the beasts with my hiking sticks. As the wolves approached the rock I see a tail wagging Golden Retriever come out of the woods followed by the owner of the friendly pack. Two Huskies and a Golden a great crew of dogs. I hope some rancher welfare grazing his livestock on public land paying nearly nothing doesn’t make the same mistake.
Anyway this thread is good practice for when Grizzly reintroduction comes up for a vote in the next few years.

i know a lot of the ranchers say something along the lines of "how would you feel if there were wolves on YOUR property" and i also live in a rural area, though ones wolves havent gotten to yet. i want wolves and grizzlies back! part of living in the rockies if you leave animals outdoors they might get eaten

Re: repeal Colorado wolf reintroduction in 2026
Which is why there's no cattle in Alaska, Michigan, Minnesota, California, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, or Idaho! The wolves have killed them all, blown down the houses, and are now posing as cute little grannies! WHEN WILL THIS MADNESS END?!?!!?!?!?!?!?<$!K?!6jcottonmountaineering wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:23 am i know a lot of the ranchers say something along the lines of "how would you feel if there were wolves on YOUR property" and i also live in a rural area, though ones wolves havent gotten to yet. i want wolves and grizzlies back! part of living in the rockies if you leave animals outdoors they might get eaten

Instead of hating on wolves, we should try to make them our friends, maybe even our best friends.
