Mt. Sherman during the Silver Rush 50 Run 7/12?
Hi all, new to 14ers.com. I was thinking about hiking Mt. Sherman from Iowa Gulch tomorrow, but just realized that the Silver Rush 50 Run is happening tomorrow and it looks like the route goes pretty close to that trailhead. Is it best to avoid this tomorrow, or will it not be a problem? Thanks!

Just go to the other side and climb it from four mile creek, then you will have no issues at all with the 50 mile race in Leadville.

The only reason I don't want to do that is because I'm staying near Leadville right now, and it's a lot easier to make it to the Iowa Gulch trailhead, otherwise I would go from Four Mile Creek

Best to avoid the area, the course goes up and down both roads that go to Iowa Gulch and does so both Sat and Sun. There’s plenty of other mountains to do in Lake county
