Hi Guys, Thank you to everyone for your insights and encouragement. All of you are very inspiring. I think we would have regrets if we didn't go and explore as all of you have suggested.

MikeK and Tom - I like your suggestion about Quandry, I think we'll look at that.

Trotter, I would have responded earlier but Wheel of Fortune was getting ready to start. LOL :-D.

droidly - Wow, good for her. That's pretty cool that she has a guide like you to take her.

rpdawes - I'm impressed.

summitstep - Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll be resting right along with her.

passionforhiking - If we were going to try a 12-13000 peak, do you have any suggestions?

Good luck with your effort. I did my first 14er (Bierstadt) in 2012 at age 63. As I moved up the slope to the saddle I was stopping to rest every 100 steps or even less. By the time I got back to the car I was empty of my 3 liters of water...so take plenty. Since then, I have done 38 more (39 counting Mount Whitney) plus 7 repeated climbs, my most recent summit being Pyramid (at age 67). And I still stop often after 12000 feet. WARNING1 It gets addictive. Have a great time on your climb!

I would echo those who say make sure your wife gets medical clearance. Assuming everything is good on that front, I would say give it a go.

The only thing I can think of to add would be that "early" to a normal person and "early" to a mountain climber are probably 2 different things. 4am would probably be a good idea, so obviously you would want headlamps with sufficient batteries.

Shouldnt much of problem if your 3000 foot hike up a 12K and 13K peak before was not a problem. If you havent done such condition hikes in advance, that would not be smart.
