Colorado doesn’t do semi-secluded anymore. Try Idaho

I could be wrong on the dispersed camping at Lower Cataract, though there is a forest service campground just below the lake. I'd check the with Dillon Ranger District to be sure.

Lower Cataract Lake is close to my neck of the woods. There isn't any dispersed camping there, you must camp in the campground which has only 5 spaces on a first come first served basis. It is a nice lake though with a family friendly loop trail around it. I take visiting family and friends there quite often and they seem to enjoy it. It does get busy on weekends so try to camp on weekdays if possible.

Check out Medicine Bow National forest in WY. Snowy Range. West of Laramie not far from the Colorado border. Lots of alpine lakes with campgrounds just off the 130 Snowy Range scenic byway, and some back roads. Medicine Bow mountain is a great easy scenic hike. Not secluded but I wouldn’t expect any drive up alpine lake to be.

Worth checking out on the way to CO. Then take the back roads to Steamboat and the flattops.

Hit the Bighorns and the Snowy Range and don't bother with Colorado.
