Yeah after PT 12776 it gets kinda weird. Surprising when you think the Sawatch is full of gentle talus piles which LOL: it def is not. Lots of things on the CD ridge from there until say: Massive are quite spicy and loose.

. Thank you for the info, two lunches and johnt.
Looks like it will be fairly easy to finds spots off the trail for hammock camping. However, we shall be setting up a tent. Do you think it will be easy to find a flat spot big enough for a 2-person tent just by walking 100' off the trail at some point with a full pack?
I just don't want to be stuck with a heavy pack in the middle of a deadfall with a kid.

Yes there are plenty of suitable spots in and around the main trail.
