In the unlikely event that I'm both still alive and able to climb mountains by then, it looks like Mt. Ouray (centennial, not 14er) will be very close to the center line. If able to drive, but not climb Pike Peak might be an otpion, though I expect it to be crazy crowded for that.
Pumped. With the 2045 Colorado eclipse being on 12 August, at approximately 10:30 AM local I would give that at least a 90% chance of having clear skies. Be even more pumped if I can make it to that date, and can still hike!

Yale is basically right on the center line. What a sight that would be...although the summit crowds would be a real issue. Especially getting down.

"A Total Eclipse of magnitude 1.0361 will be visible from this location on August 12 2045. Maximum eclipse will be at 10:37:30 local time and totality duration will be 5m 16s."

Over five minutes of darkness!!!! The 2017 eclipse was a meager 2.5 minutes. Incredible.

HRH Trump will have cancelled the Wilderness Act by then. On the other hand, all public lands will be sold to the highest bidder. On the bright side, the population will be much lower after decades of war and famine, so the lines will be shorter.

The totality is definitely where its at! Anything less is like drinking warm Bud light. I went to the 2017 totality in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. It was surprisingly uncrowded. I actually think the experience is best viewed in man-made surroundings rather than nature. Why? The stark difference and reactions of people, animals (especially birds), traffic, noises, and civilization is a rapid and striking shock of reality. Everything goes from day to twilight in a matter of seconds. It is truly a bizarre experience.

Witnessing it in nature or on top of a 14er would be cool. But it would lack the in-your-face sensory overload that civilization presents.

If I have not already kicked the bucket by then, it might just be the way to kick the bucket trying to summit at 95. It would be worth it to see if the Perseids meteor shower can be seen during totality. That would be cool. If I can’t make it, would someone check it out and let me know?

A meteor shower during an eclipse would be pretty cool.

This time around, if you are lucky enough to have clear skies during totality, try to find the "devil comet".

Totality in Greenville, Missouri. Totally worth the 14.5 hour drive.

As viewed from Granbury, Texas. Not bad for a Pixel 7 Pro.
