Thanks for the post Alec, and everyone for the kind support.
After finishing the Centennials 3 years ago I was mostly just randomly doing 13'ers that looked interesting and/or were near places I enjoyed camping. Last summer I was in Chicago Basin for a few days with my good friend Craig, I went and did Monitor/Animas/13 one of the days (great trip, I have a trip report from it). When I made it to the top of Monitor my hero John Balciar's name was in the log, I sent him a text and he responded with "are you doing peak 15 too?". I told him that peak 15 was above my pay grade. I also had some discussion about peak 15 a few weeks prior with my hero Cory Dobson while we were doing the Cielo Vista southern 13'ers. The 2 of them (seriously, they're both my heroes) got me thinking about an attempt on 15, I figured if I could get 15 I could probably get the rest of the bicentennials. I got peak 15 later that summer, and from then on I decided to bum rush the rest of the bicentennials as quickly as possible, at that point I think I was around 140-145. Spent the late fall and winter getting as many of the mellow ones as I could that weren't too far from home, when summer came I started slowly knocking out peaks that were harder and/or long distance hikes. My hero Preston Dennis also played a role in this, while I'm not nearly as anti-backpacking as he is, most of the time I prefer a long day with a light pack to a backpacking trip. Preston was a great resource for how to get some of these long distance peaks quickly, or at least as quick as possible. It was really rewarding finishing this list, could never have done this without this site and Bill M.
WOW, i knew you were up to something but did not realize you were working on THIS list, Well Done Will, really!!!!!
On to just finish all of the 13ers now????
