Kite Lake Road vs Others

Post by vondiesel »

I'm thinking of attempting Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln tomorrow. How does the Kite Lake road compare to others like Fourmile Creek road or the road to Iowa Amphitheatre at Sherman? I drive a Mazda hatchback and both of those other roads were ok as long as I went very slowly. I could take my wife's CR-V if needed, but I'd rather not since my car is a stick shift. She can drive it but is not used to it. Thanks!!!

I am not familiar with those other roads, but I was able to drive to Kite Lake a couple of weeks ago in a Honda Accord without a problem. There were a couple ruts towards the top, but nothing horrible.

Is it rocky or just dirt/gravel?

Dirt/gravel.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Kite Lake Road is a bit rougher than the Fourmile road most of the way till the trailhead end which has a deep rut and maybe a washout before a parking lot. I have driven both roads.
