North Halfmoon Trailhead Camping Labor Day Weekend

Post by Gogleos »

A buddy and I are heading to Massive to do the SW slopes trail and I was wondering if y'all think there will be camping near that trail head over labor day weekend. We are driving massive on Saturday evening and climbing on Sunday.

hit and miss. Getting there late in the day stacks the deck against you. There is a thread somewhere about how much people hate it when others arrive late and make a bunch of noise setting up their camp. You might want to consider checking the National Forest campgrounds on the way in, they aren't too far away and you might find an open spot.

We wouldn't get there any later than say 5/6 in the evening/afternoon so I'm not sure the noise thing would be an issue. i just want to avoid having to turn around and drive back down the road and look like a dummy lol

There are several miles of dispersed camping in the woods before the trailhead. Expect there to be a ton of people camping throughout those woods and a ton of heavy partying going on. Only a fraction of the campers will be climbing the next day.
