Denny creek??
Is the Denny Creek TH still open, I know it will close sometime soon, just wondering when. I am looking for a date, not Spring /Summer 2018. I am wanting to do Yale in the morning, just need it open tomorrow.

Re: Denny creek??
I'm not sure it does close. Even if a forest service road gets gated you can still hike past it though.
If you really wanna be sure give the salida ranger district a call: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/psicc/ab ... sm9_032697

Re: Denny creek??
I meant to cars, as the normal winter closure is right there, I was wondering when it was going to move down.

Re: Denny creek??
Oh gotcha. I'm not sure where along the pass they actually close it. If were to take a guess I would imagine you could still get to Denny Creek TH though even with the winter closure, but I'm not sure where exactly they gate it.
On this note, it looks like I'm seeing that Cottonwood Pass will remain closed through summer '18 for road work. Does anyone know how much of the pass will be inaccessible due to this?

Re: Denny creek??
As of right now, the closure for winter is right at Denny creek, but when construction starts, which is what I'm trying t find out a date, it will move down to the Avalanche trailhead.

Re: Denny creek??
I called the Salida ranger station who said they believe Denny Creek TH is closed but Avalanche TH remains open. Does anyone know how far Avalanche TH is from Denny Creek?

Re: Denny creek??
WRONG! The road is STILL OPEN to Denny Creek TH! I am the PIO for CCSAR-N. I spoke with the PIO for the construction project this morning and was told there will be NO road closures on CR306 this weekend (6/2-3)or next week. I will be posting updates on the Denny Creek Trailhead Conditions report as I get them.mwalker wrote:I called the Salida ranger station who said they believe Denny Creek TH is closed but Avalanche TH remains open. Hiked Yale today. A sign in BV said “Roadworks begin on 6-4-18” whatever that means. Bill always seems to have the official word and i feel certain he will post the final word when it comes out.

Re: Denny creek??
I emailed Mark Stacy, Chaffee County Superintendent, and he told me he didn't believe the trailhead was closed.
