Hot Water at Trailhead
I am planning staying overnight at a trailhead and wanted hotwater for coffee in the morning. Which is better, HydroFlask with coffee in it or boil water in the morning? Discuss

12V water kettle. Just plug it into the vehicle’s outlet and short time later you have hot water! Great for winter travel too, when you don’t want to go outside for a stove

Re: Hot Water at Trailhead
I usually do Jetboil too. The 12V kettle idea is an interesting one, though...haven't thought of it before. Might not be the best choice if your vehicle is having battery problems, though.

I’ve been using one for a few years now. If you are worried about battery, keep the vehicle running/turn it on. My 3.6R uses so much battery, I now carry a Goal Zero battery with me. So I can just plug it into the external battery.AlexeyD wrote:I usually do Jetboil too. The 12V kettle idea is an interesting one, though...haven't thought of it before. Usually use Jetboil... or canned coffee drinks...screejunkie wrote:I am planning staying overnight at a trailhead and wanted hotwater for coffee in the morning. Which is better, HydroFlask with coffee in it or boil water in the morning? Discuss
Hydroflask or Thermos could work depending on timing... of when you make the coffee and when you plan on drinking it.
Do a batch or two at home... using same timing, and see if the coffee is hot enough for you when it's time to drink it.
Could definitely save you a few minutes in the morning.
