Call the raven's rest hostel in lake City if you don't want to break the bank. Or were you thinking campgrounds?

Re: place to stay for San Juan mountains
Alpine Village in Lake City has rustic, but clean cabins. Stayed there and loved it. I know that Elkhorn RV resort also has a couple cabins too, but I'm not sure how far out you need to contact them to get them reserved. I have tent camped there with my brother, mainly because we wanted access to shower facilities after hiking.
Seems like the times that I need a mountain the most are the times that I can not get to them.
