Bears on Lake Como Rd Campsites?

Post by BuckTurgidson »

Pretty sure I can get my Tacoma up to 10k’ on the Lake Como Rd (a 1/4 mile below Jaws I) and camp. I know there are bears at Lake Como. Any reports of nuisance bears down near Jaws I? Wondering if I need to take precautions.

Dont usually hear problems down that low, but its definitely possible. The worst I've ran into was one giant angry goat.

I have camped around 10,000'-10,300' a couple times and we only ever saw deer come through the camp in the afternoon. But then again, I wasn't at camp all day, I was on Little Bear.

This... always take bear precautions whether or not there have been problems/bear sightings recently. It will help prevent new bear problems from developing.

he's lucky. if he had left that truck like that at the whitney portal, the bears would have stripped it down to the wheel axles.
