Peak 10 4x4 road?

Post by atalarico »

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone’s been up the Peak 10 4x4 road in Breck lately? Hoping to go ski 4th of July Bowl tomorrow...

You and a thousand others. :)

I'm not sure if they've opened the road up from Beaver Run yet but you could call the USFS Dillon Ranger District to find out. In some years, they open it in stages.

Thanks Bill! I’ll give them a call. FWIW, I went a few years back and it was maybe 20 people up on the summit having fun and riding. It really wasn’t the crowded s**t show I thought it would be. Then again, a couple of people were naked.

If the road is open most of the way, I'm guessing it will be extra crowded this year because the snow still goes from the summit.

Yeah, just spoke to the ranger office. They said that Breck resort had a blockage because they were doing work but that will be removed today for tomorrow’s visitors. However he said that the road is still mostly closed after that. Trying to get an estimate of how far down it’s closed this year and might save it for August. Lol

I did some scouting after work today and the road is open to Overlook restaurant @11.2k, road blockage after that, but looks dry for a bit. Not sure there will be enough parking for tomorrow....
