I emailed the ranch with a plan to do Beaubien all the way through Purgatorie in a day hoping to get away with only paying $500 for everything and it was $1,000 because they don't charge per day on the ranch but for north/south groups.

It is $500 for the southern group and you camp at the base of Purgatoire but not sure exactly where. The From my email the $500 does include Red and Culebra but I didn’t ask much about that since I’ve already done those.

We were allowed to camp at the spot elevation of 11796 at a saddle to the west of Purgatoire.

Garrett, thanks for getting this hike initiated, been thinking about doing the south group for two years now. I would love to join the group! My only issue is not having a car that can access the upper road. If I can grab a ride to and from camp from someone I will have a couple of extra beers with me. Plan to email the ranch tonight.

I’m interested. What kind of vehicle is needed to get to the desired trailhead?

I didn’t ask on the vehicle so probably worth seeing what the ranch says when you email. If it’s an issue send me a message I’d be willing to take someone in my truck.

From doing this route a couple years ago you will need a 4WD (nothing particularly fancy/stock 4wd probably ok, but it is a rough road).

This is definitely going forward now. For those who have signed up the ranch asked what time we would all like to meet at the gate and they will send coordinates for that later. The option is a time between 4 and 7 on Friday the evening before and it takes about an hour to drive from there to the camp. I’m planning to email them Sunday evening with a time of 5:30 pm unless anyone is opposed.
