New CFI 14er use report shows 303,000 climbers in 2021
CFI has released the hiking use report for activity occurring in 2021. Use dropped from 415,000 in 2020 to 303,000 in 2021. Parking and access restrictions on many of the peaks in the Front, Tenmile and Mosquito Ranges caused the biggest drops in hiking use, though western wildfire smoke affected some key summer weekends and there also were more things to safely do as the pandemic lessened. Check out the report, press release and some peak-specific charts on the CFI website: https://www.14ers.org/2021-hiking-use-estimates/.
