Flight for Life helicopter in the Sangre de Cristo Range early 10/9

Post by Eagle Eye »

another helicopter sighting on 10/9...

10/9/22 about 7:20 am on the summit of Humboldt Peak: I could hear a distant engine sound in the general direction of Westcliffe -but not tell where it was coming from. It seemed stationary or hovering.
At 7:32 am a Flight for Life helicopter appeared, following above the (Macey Creek/Lake) drainage north of Colony Baldy, flying east to west toward Kit Carson and Challenger Point. I expected it would slow down near KC and C because it was flying lower than them but it passed on a level flight through a gap (I think) between Columbia Point and Kit Carson Peak! That was a high-altitude flight I'd like to know more about, if anyone knows more.
