Capitol this summer?
Hey all, I attempted Capitol a few years back and learned a bit about the route, but did not summit. It's an interesting story I'd be happy to share. I've attempted all the Colorado 14ers and summited all except Little Bear and Capitol. I also have a vehicle that can access the Capitol TH. Let me know if you're interested in collaborating on this project sometime in the next couple months, although I have more availability (weekdays) before August 1.

OK, I just saw that permits are now required to camp at Capitol Lake, which may complicate things...Still let me know if you're interested in climbing this peak together sometime and we can start the planning process.

Re: Capitol this summer?
FYI, there are ways of doing Capitol without needing a permit:
1) Day hike (not reasonable for many folks)
2) Dispersed camp prior to the permit zone (options may be limited, see map at https://www.recreation.gov/permits/4675333)
3) Hike from the Moon Lake side (slightly longer approach starting at Snowmass Creek TH, joins standard route just before K2. See https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/triprepo ... trip=20754
Also, in case it's of interest, there's a route up Little Bear that avoids the Hourglass which bothers a lot of people. See some discussion plus a link to my TR here: https://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 63#p794263
