Maroon Bells 9/1 and 9/2

Post by Gphunk88 »

Hey all! Thought I would reach out on here to see if I could find a partner or few for an upcoming climb. My name is Josh Gillmore and I have two 24 hour parking permits for the Maroon Lake Trailhead on 9/1 and 9/2. To go along with this I have an overnight camping permit for 9/1 into 9/2 at Crater Lake for 4 people. My biggest goal is to get a shot at summiting Maroon Peak. Beyond that I have not planned much and would be willing to work out a better plan if there's interest. I do most of my trips solo but this one is one of those ones I'd like to have a partner for if possible. I have summited 33 of 58 so far and I feel comfortable with Class 3, even though my list of Class 3 is not extensive by any means. Longs along with Challenger and Kit Carson are the true Class 3s I've done. A lot of Class 2+ to go along with it. Looking to give a shot at some harder ones and harder routes before this season ends and this is one of those ones. I am not the fastest hiker or climber and I tend to fall in the 1 mile per hour pace. I know my limitations and I am not the type to let summit fever cloud my judgment so I will not be afraid to stop and turn around if need be. Please reach out if you have any interest and we will talk. Thanks for reading and for your consideration!

Hey there!

I also have a 9/2/24 midnight to midnight parking permit and am looking for climbing partners. I'm at 43 peaks so far and am comfortable on class 3/4 terrain. I have not done any of the harder Elks yet but am interested in doing Pyramid or the Bells individually. Your plan looks very similar to what I want to do so hit me up if you want to talk about forming a group. Thanks!

Additionally, to whomever else is interested: I was hoping to stay out in the Elks/San Juans/Sangres over Labor Day week to get some other difficult peaks in if other folks wanted to group up.
