Hiking activity on Colorado’s 14ers dropped by 6.8% in 2023, continuing a downward trend since the record-breaking summer of 2020. One of the biggest factors? The closure of the popular Decalibron Loop due to private landowner liability concerns, causing a significant 55% decrease in use across the Mosquito Range.
