Last year I attempted this route but got a late start and didn't want to be going back through the jungle with its tricky dropoffs armed with only a headlamp in the dark so I bailed.
Decided to just enjoy the perfect day and spectacular scenery.
I climbed up the boulderfield on the LEFT SIDE as you pass South Zapata Lake and are looking way up at Ellingwood Point.
It seemed to me that if one went all the way to the top of that ridge (I only went about 2/3 of the way due to time constraints) one might be able to acquire the summit of Ellingwood by a somewhat shorter route.
But I could be wrong.
Has anyone ever gone up there and tried?
