Castle Peak - Tallest 14er in the Elk Mountains

Named for the striking towers along its ridges, Castle holds the title of being the highest peak in the Elk Mountains.

Climbing Castle's standard, Northeast Ridge route is a good introduction to climbing in the Elks but much easier than Pyramid Peak, The Maroon Bells, Snowmass Mountain, and Capitol Peak. Still, it has plenty of loose, challenging terrain. Many who climb Castle also add on Conundrum Peak by following the Castle and Conundrum Combination route.
