 Details

The road is dry for first half mile after Lutheran camp. Beyond that intermittent snow for the next mile. Evidence that one vehicle made it about 1.5 miles. Snow mostly consistent from there. We left road at a switchback around 9800 feet. First 100 vertical feet was brutal mess sinking and nearly stuck up to our waists. After that mostly sinking 6 inches or so with snowshoes on. Treeline to 12800 was mostly dry. A few inches of snow and a few postholes up high but no big deal. Snowshoes mandatory to treeline. Cached there and did not use or need traction. Get our trench before it is gone!
