The road past the Angel of Shavano Campground (Road 240) is open and clear to around 11,350. The road had a lot of downed trees that had been cut and moved off the road prior to that point. There is snow and another dozen trees that need to be cut and moved before you can get to the lake or up the Billings Road.

I walked up the road took the righthand road at the sign for Billings Lake and left the road shortly after that up a nice drainage to the 13,070/Calico saddle. East to Calico and then retraced my steps back to the saddle then continuing on to 13,070 and Pomeroy. The route I took was 7.2 miles and 2500 feet +/-.

The first picture shows one of the narrow stretches of road where the trees are cut.

The second picture is at the end of the open road at 11,350 +/-.

The third picture is from 13,070 looking back towards Calico (12,944 in 1955 and 12,951 now). The rgister on Calico was interesting, a 1" diameter glass bottle. There was the first slip of paper that showed the Colorado Mountain Club on the peak in August, 1955. I do not know the history of CMC and how long it has been in existence. There was a group in 1959, 1960 and then the few other 3"x4" yellowed and brittle slips of paper having been signed in very infrequently from 1955 and up to mine. The last looking like it said 2010. Grizzly Peak is just left center.

The last picture shows Pomeroy from 13,070. The ridge between the two peaks is about 0.6 miles with the first 0.2 and last 0.1 being Class 2 and rocky. The middle section has some Class 3 and if you stay on the top of the ridge you will find some steeper slabs where you can grab the top edge and have small cracks for footholds.
