Route from Kite Lake is mostly free of snow. There are some patches to cross just past the trailhead, but once you start heading up the slope under the power lines, it's possible to navigate between the snow patches. Microspikes were somewhat useful at the beginning of the trail, but no snowshoes, axe, or crampons are necessary. Ridge to Loveland is completely dry. Photos (click for slideshow):
