First 1.5 miles of Medano lake trail varies from calf deep sugar to bare. Broke trail before I veered right up ridge of 12883 to access Medano.... Plan on breaking trail in shady areas if you continue up to Medano lake...the saddle above lake is clear...Mostly clear above treeline everywhere (including south faces of crestones)....below treeline is patchy unless you're on ENE facing slopes. Came down SE ridge off 12925 to avoid majority of steep sugar snow ...4wd up Medano pass was essential Photos (click for slideshow):
