Road to Mosquito Pass is plowed to 11,000 and then had ski resort grade corduroy to 12,000ish. From there it was mostly following the road/trail with some post-holing occasionally but mostly firm to the pass. Avoid the first switchback on the road proper after the grating (it's on maps) that swings on the the SE face around 12,400, it's holding snow and steep enough to be dangerous. Pass to Kuss/Repeater is mostly road, and rock hopping with drifts and snow. Mosquito is mostly rock hopping until the last 100 vertical feet or so. Was going to tack on Evans on my way back but the wind picked up quick and hard after a mostly calm-ish morning. Brought traction, didn't use it. Flotation could be helpful in places but I'm a glutton for leg punishment. |
